1         Express each of the following ratios in simplest form:

(   a)    (i)  4:6

=4/6 (dividing both numerator and denominator by 2)

=2/3

=2:3 ( Answer)

Apply same process to solve (a) (ii) and (iii)

(   b)   (i) 5kg :800 gm

Steps

1.       Convert both the terms into same unit

2.       Reduce a factor to its lowest terms

(i)                  5kg: 800gm

       = 5x1000 gm: 800 gm   (1kg=1000gm)

       =5000gm:  800 gm (dividing both numerator and denominator by 100 and cancelling the units)

       = 50: 8 (further, dividing both numerator and denominator by 2)

       =25:4 (Answer)
