ALGEBRA (CLASS 6)

DIVISION:

EXERCISE 13 (E)   PAGE NO. 127

(I)            DIVISION OF A MONOMIAL BY A MONOMIAL:

1.  DIVIDE

i.3a  by a

 =3 x a / a (cancel the terms)

=3         (/ MEANS DIVISION SIGN)

v. 30pby 10p2

=30 x p x p/10 x p x p(cancel)

=3

viii 100by 50b

= 100\50xb

=20/b

(Do other sums)

2.Simplify

iv. -24a2b2cby 6ab

= -24 x a x a x b x b x c x c\ 6 a x b (cancel)

=-4a x b x c2

=-4abc2

vi. 40p3q4rby 10p3q

=40xp x p x p x q x q x q x q r x r x r x r x r /  10 p x p x p x q

=4q3r5

Taking these as examples do others sums

3.DIVIDE

i. -3m/4 by 2 m

=-3 x m/4 x ½ m(division )

=-3/8

iii.-21mn7 by 14 m2n2

=-21x m x m x m x m x m x n x n x n x n x n x n x n/ 14 x m x m x n x n

=-3 x m x m x m x n x n x n x n x n x n/2

=-3m3n5/2

viii -5.5x2/y by 11 /y OBSERVE THE STEPS CAREFULLY

=-5.5X x /y  X y/11x

=-0.5 x

Do  other sums

4.SIMPLIFY

i. -15 m5 n/ -3 m5

SOLUTION:

=5 n2( cancel the signs  as well the terms)

(II)          DIVISION OF A POLYNOMIAL BY A MONOMIAL:

5.DIVIDE

i. 9x3-6 x2 by 3 x

SOLUTION

=this means 9 x 3/ 3 x – 6 x/3 x

=9.x.x.x/3.x – 6.x.x /3.x  (. Means multiply)

=3.x.x-2.x

=3x2- 2x

iii.15x3y2 +25x2y3-36x4y4  by 5x2y2

SOLUTION:

=15.x.x.x.y.y.y \ 5x.x.y.y +  25.x.x.y.y.y /5.x.x.y.y- 36.x.x.x.x.x .y.y.y.y /5x.x .y.y

=3.x .y +5.y -36/5.x.x.y.y (after cancelling)

=3xy+ 5y- 36/5 x2y2

DEAR STUDENTS DO EXPECTED SUMS VERY SERIOUSLY.
