which means 25 per hundred or 25% is also read as 25 percent.

PER means FOR EVERY or, OUT OF and CENT means HUNDRED, thus PERCENTAGE means
FOR OR OUT OF HUNDRED

THE WORD PER CENT MEANS FOR EVERY HUNDRED.

When you say "Percent" you are really saying "per 100"

100% of 80 is 100/100 × 80 = 80

Example:

50% of 80 is 50/100 × 80 = 40

PERCENTAGE IS THE NUMERATOR OF THE FRACTION WITH DENOMINATOR 100

60 OUT OF 100 = 60\100
