WATER POLLUTION
Water Pollution: Contamination of streams, lakes, underground water, bays, or oceans by substances harmful to living things is called water pollution.

Common sources of water pollution:
1.       Chemicals like insecticides, pesticides etc.
2.       Live stock waste
3.       Activities of human like washing clothes, dumping waste
4.       Factories disposal
5.       Oil spills
6.       Landfill dumps
7.       Bad drainage system

Effect of water pollution
1.       Health risk associated with drinking water
2.       Excessive growth of algae

Some of the diseases caused by the consumption of polluted water are cholera, diarrhea, gastroenteritis, typhoid, dysentery, hepatitis and polio.

Methods for preventing water pollution
1.       Greater awareness should be created
2.       Industrial waste should be treated to remove toxic substance
3.       Water pollution should be forbidden by law and heavy penalty must be imposed
4.       Farmers must be educated about chemicals they used
